Blog Session 1

I am studyng cinematography at Universidad de Chile. I am currently at my eighth semester of my carreer, but I will talk about the previous half-year: my seventh semester. In that period I studied about how to make an investigation in any area, things about tv and cinema production and things about latin american studies of culture. For other side, I learn things about televition in my Workshop Class. For example we learn importantd things that we need to be very present to organize the people (and their differents jobs) in a tv set and switch.

In the first half of this year, I didn´t practise too much sport. And only in some ocations I took my bicycle for a ride. But, in this time, I changing that. In my personal life I had no important troubles that affect me in (Or I can´t remember) Indeed, I think the problems or things that affect me in an importat way came afterwards. And I remember the first term of this year as a good period.

Blog Session 12: English

I like the English subject at University. I think in our lives its very important to speak and write in English because this languaje was very influential in a lot of aspects in the actual way of living. From technology, politics to the culture and more, the English is the most powerful languaje in our world. That was directly related to the United States and their influence in the rest of the countries. Inclusive, for some pleople this languaje its considered like a universal languaje. 

I think that the use of blogs is very useful. In my case, my English classes at my school was related mainly to listen and repeat the things that our teachers said to us and not necesary related for to create something by own. To work in blogs can move us closer to English.

I need to improve the way how I use the verbs according the differents times of speaking. To know the correct word that we need to use in an particular sentence for express a idea. I think that the best form to improve this is only writing or speaking, mainly writing, because in this act I can take conscience about the things that I want to say in contrast (in some cases) that the things that really I say.

Outside the English class I don´t use too much English for express myself, really. But, obviosly I am always in contact with this languaje, all the time. Since a song sung in English, to a manual to built an object. We are in a society that we always we be in relation with the English languaje, how I say in the first part. We need to pay atention of it and to learn English. That is a crucial tool for our carreers and our way of living.

This Year

To talk about this year in this moment isn't very easy. This year many things have happend in my life but lately, a particular bad thing happened in my life and that changed a lot of things that I thought or even the way that I usually see the things. But I prefer to talk about the good things. (Including what this bad thing could cause). Because this bad thing, maybe can be the start for new good things, like opportunities, new persons to meet or comeback to the things that are really important. Lately, I can discover again, all the good people who are around me. People who have always stayed with me; in the good times and in the bad ones. People who can do greatest things and beautiful things in their particular ways. Lately I have even met again with a friend that I haven't seen from a long time and again I feel how people who were around have a particular way to do and say things. They are great people. And they are an important part to undestand how in ocassions the bad things that happen in our lives could be only the start for new oportunities to grow up.

On the other hand, I had the possibility to work in good and interesting projects related to my area: the cinema. I participated in a filming project of a short film and in a cinema festival. Where I could see and talk with people related to Chilean cinematography. I have another projects with my friends and I'm interested in doing a lot of things, I want to put my attention and motivation in these things and be happy doing these. 

Blog Session 10: Our Tv Program

These days was very full of things to do. Right now me and a group of my university classmates we prepare a tv program about the most important movies of chilean cinematography. The first episode will be about a movie "El Chacotero Sentimental", a chilean comedy movie from 1999 and directed by Cristian Galaz. 

In each episode we will meet the people who work on it (directors, producers, actors and the crew) and we will talk to specialists on cinema (other film directors, critics, sociologists) who the answer how this movie in particular make a contribution in our national cinematography. We have to interview a theses persons and in my particular case, I have to edit the program (a very hard job in this case, because they are a lot of hour on video). The others movies that we would watch in the season of our program it would be from old movies like "El Chacal de Nahueltoro" directed by Miguel Littin or "Largo Viaje" directed by Patricio Kaulen to important movies of the last time, like the Oscar Nominee "No" directed by Pablo Larraín.

I like the project. I like to know the stories of the people who created a movie that have become a hit. And like the simple fact of meet this people. An important part to understand how the people in our country make movies; filmakers, producers, actors and all the people related to the production. But I'm very proud of this project and it would be great that it mantein in the time. Or it would become a truly contribution to the people who make and love the cinema. 

Blog Session 8: How green are you?

Really I don´t know where the people learn about environmentally friendly places. I think that we can find this type of information in eco-organizations websites or in the information delivered by the Ministry of Environment of our country.

In general, In my house I don't have too much habits of recycling (like separate the garbage in different boxes according to the type for example) but I have a lot of conscience about how we must manipulate the garbage and the natural things around. 

I like to ride a bicycle but I won't use it to go to my university because I would be late to classes, (this is not a good excuse, I know, but it complicate the things) and in general, it isn't exists good ways for the peoples who cycling. 

I haven't joined any eco-organisations, because is not inside in my priorities. But I know the importance of the jobs of organizations like Green Peace.

In our society we need more conscience about the importance of recycling and the care of nature. Specially in a city like Santiago, recognized for its air contamination (pollution). We need more green areas in the city for a many reasons. For one side, the threes have the important capacity of clean the air. For other side, in green areas like parks we can find a special place to practice sports and do outdoors activities. In the city, every time is most necessary to create special ways for bicycles. Where the people can move across Santiago in their bicycles without  the problems of be crashed by cars or hit walking people. We need a new culture in this aspect.

Blog Session 6: Summary from a career-related article

This article is titled: "Gravity weighs in at No 1: feel the force and hey – here come the awards films!" and talk about the movie "Gravity" (2013). This is an american movie directed by Alfonso Cuarón and is a space story with Sandra Bullock and George Clooney, that had a great audience reception. This article brings out how that movie smashes records and how the spanish market have a good time. 

In the first part talks about the market and how the movie rewrote the records in the October Box Office overcome a Paranormal Activity 3, premiered at 2011, that held the record for the biggest Octuber launch on $52.6m.

The second parragraph talks about the great moment in a movies relate to spanish languaje. Few weeks back "Instructions not included" became the biggest spanish languaje hit. This movie is distribute by Pantalion Films and that company has released another movie and also opened in the top ten.

The third part is about this period of the year that preceed the awards season in the film industry. (When the cinema lovers waiting with great spectations the nominations for the differents prizes of their favourites movies).

And the last parragraph talk about the movie "Enough Said" directed by Nicole Holofcener and the sadness in the audience reception cause by the Jame Gandolfini's final role, actor who passad away last summer in Rome.

Blog Session 5: Los Jaivas

I'm going to talk about one of my favourite chilean band and also one the most important in our country and Latin America: Los Jaivas. This is a chilean rock band formed by Eduardo Parra (keyboard and lyrics), Claudio Parra (keyboard) Gabriel Parra (drums), Eduardo "Gato" Alquinta (voice) and Mario Mutis (bass). This group was formed in 1963 in Viña del Mar, Chile.

Los Jaivas make an important contribution to the music of Chile because they created a totally particular sound that mixed the traditional chilean and latin american music with the rock music. In their lyrics we can found the old history of our land with the modern sound of a electric instruments. And in my opinion its beautiful how they can created an armonic and powerful pieces of music with so differents elements.

This rock band composed a lot of songs that conform and important part of our collective imaginary like "Todos Juntos" or "Sube a Nacer Conmigo Hermano". Pieces of music that motivate to the love, brotherhood and peace in the people. Its usually that this songs causes the biggest manifestation of happyness and excitement in their concerts. Like in the concert of their 50th birthday when I had the opportunity to go.

Blog Session 4: Bob Dylan

Hello!

I'm going to talk about one of my favourite artist of all time: Bob Dylan. His real name was Robert Allen Zimmerman but he has changed it to Bob Dylan when he decided to be musician. He is an american singer, compositor, guitarrist. And also he is an harmonica and piano player who was been recognized for this lyrics, innovations and contribution to the following generation of musician in all the world.This man was very important to understand how this style of music have changed from the 60's to now. I think that it doesn't exists any traditional folk musician that don't know Bob Dylan.  But, in my particular case I like the particular way to talk to the people across his music.

I like the big part of his music because when I listen him, it was like I know it exactly the thing that he want to say. His songs have marked me in the most importants moments of my life. In a classical way to see him, he is not a great singer and he isn't play guitar, piano or harmonica in a majestic way neither. He simply have a honest way to speak about all the things that happen in our world, from the most relevant social problems to the deepest feellings of the human being. He talk about all the things that we can find in our lives. He can talk about all the hate to an ex-girlfriend in "Idiot Wind" and talk about beautiful things like we can find hope in the wind when we can't see it in another place in "Blowin' in the wind". 

Blog Session 3: France

I would like to visit a lot of countries in my life. But at this moment I would like to visit France. Because I always heard that this country was amazing in the artistic aspect. France have one of the most influential culture of Europe and all the world. Very important to understand the occidental way of living. In many places the people try to do things like the french do. Inclusive in our city, Santiago we can find some places with a evident architecture influential of France. I like its style of music too and a big part of its artistic manifestations.

I would like to speak french for to travel to Paris but I know just somethings phrases. The capital city Paris is one of the most beautifuls cities in the world and I would like to know all the important places. The Eiffel towers, obviosly, the palaces, museums, cinemas and the differents bars and entertainment places. I would like to walk in its small streets and know the city in this way.

In one step of my life I would like to study something related with my carreer; cinema. And it would be great do it in France, the country where the cinema has born.

Blog Session 2: My ideal Job

My ideal job would be working at an area where I can mix a lot of differents arts in just one. And also I earn money with that. But I don't like that the money be my reason of make these things. Since I was a child I love drawing and make cartoons, because I usually saw my mother make paintings. Actually, I like play the guitar and play the harmonic. I like movies, the music, the literature and all kind of arts. For this reason it would be very important to me make things that can mixing these differents parts for to create something that can affect an audience. And (the most important) make a contribution in the life of the people. In specially something related with the cinema, the carreer that I actually study. I don't very sure in which particular area to work, but I know that I like the role of director and editor. Because for me they are someone of the most important parts in the line production of a movie. When I was at college I was thinking that this way of living was impossible, but at this moment I don't feel it so far. Because with the time I learn that the way of the cinema have a lot of possibilities that in the start I ignored. I love that and I'm very happy for to find people, who thinks in the same way.
